LATEST NEWS
Hello!
It's been a wee while since I updated the site but better late than never so they say! Life continues to whizz by and keep me very busy but I have lots of fun musical activities on the horizon too....
New Album
I'm very excited to have started work on a new album with Findlay Napier and Mike Vass based around Findlay’s Grandfather's collection of folk songs. Before The Scottish Folksinger and before The Wee Red Book, Norman Buchan published a weekly folksong column for The Scotsman newspaper. Findlay’s Grandfather collected them and pasted them into an old ledger book.
I have recently started working with the fabulous ABC Creative Music team. It is an amazing resource and I am thoroughly enjoying working with Phil and Tom Bancroft and Amy Geddes in schools across Scotland.
I was fortunate to be part of Findlay's Glasgow band at his sell out show at Celtic Connections this year, what a night that was! The band was Donna Maciocia and I along with special guests Boo Hewerdine and Eddi Reader. Donna, Findlay andI had such fun rehearsing and performing together we are keen to do more. We have been working on some videos which I'll be posting links to soon. We have live shows coming up including a double header with Sam Kelly and the Lost Boys at Clonter Opera House on Sat 6th October. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements for the trio.......
New Tunes
Over the last few years I have been quietly working away on some new tunes. I have an idea to develop these and record them sometime soon. It will hopefully also involve working with a personal hero of mine so stay tuned for more news on that..... very exciting!!!
Findlay and I had a great few days over on Arran visiting the schools to help promote the fèis. We did workshops in six primaries (including the one i went to which was very nostalgic indeed!) and the secondary school and finished off with a ceilidh in one of the village halls. We are both looking forward to being back for the week in July, They have a brand new website and can now do online bookings! Click here to take a look Fèis Arainn
