on the road again

That’s us all packed and ready to start to long drive down to Cambridge. I’m looking forward working with the Hub Band project with Bella Hardy. The line up for the weekend is fantastic and we’ll have plenty of time to catch most of it!

On Sunday I’m heading straight back up the road all the way to Aberdeen where I’ll be teaching at the Splore for a week. It was a great week last year and I’ll get the chance to work alongside Jenn Butterworth, Angus Lyon and Steve Fyvie.

Summer Festivals

The summer festival season got off to a great start a few weeks ago with the fantastic Brew at the Bog. Despite the chilly weather (-2 and snowing!) we had a brilliant time. There were over 30 bands playing during the day and some lovely beer courtesy of Brew Dog too. The Barroom Mountaineers were a five piece for the first time with Blair Mcmillan on drums and Euan Burton on bass, looking forward to more of this!

Next up is Insider Festival…. woo hooooo!! This was my absolute favourite last year and can’t wait! everyone should come : ) The Barroom Mountaineers are playing and I’m delighted that the Hidden Lane Choir have also been invited along to take part in the ‘Olympiad Opening Ceremony’. We’ve been rehearsing in the park and making the most of the sunny weather!

Choir performing at the Hidden Lane Festival this Saturday

The ladies of the Hidden Lane Choir are delighted to be doing a home gig this Saturday at the Hidden Lane Festival (http://www.hiddenlane.co.uk). The choir was actually born at this same festival 2 years ago and a few months later the first practice took place in the fantastic Hidden Lane Tearoom (http://www.thehiddenlanetearoom.blogspot.com).

If you haven’t been along the lane before you will be amazed at all the things going on there. Especially this Saturday when there will be live music, DJs, BBQ, market stalls, fashion shows, sandwich shack, photoshoots, art installations and even a Turkish lounge.

I am really looking forward to this festival.

We (Findlay Napier and the Bar Room Mountaineers) are playing on the Friday night and lots of friends and family are coming up for the weekend.

It is small, perfectly formed and a little bit different to lots of other summer festivals. Each year there is a theme and this year is no different..

Stoke your boilers – oil your moustaches – bust out your bustles and brush down your breeches.

Rally forth you engineers, you pioneers, you buccaneers, inventors, explorers and philanderers.

A Golden Age is upon us.

The Insider is back – and it’s Victorian.

I can guarantee the food will be amazing and apparently they do boat trips up the Spey to Aviemore for booze and other supplies….
